In 1310 King Robert of Anjou and his wife Sanchez of Majorca decided to build this complex. The Cloisters are very peaceful.. they were built for the Franciscan order, and a great sense of calm pervades the area. In the 1700s the pillars and benches were covered with majolica tiles.
The smell of orange blossom and wisteria was delicious.
