Last class at Painting Maribyrnong

Last week was our last class with Graeme Drendal. It has been a great year and I finished up with some unstructured drawing

New brush new drawing

A new brush inspired by the Lorna Crane workshop. And here are the marks that this brush makes. Paper is  A2 size. Nice.

Mark making and drawing

The second last assignment for the year for the Studio and Materials class at VCA was to create a work based on.....'KITTENS'

Given my popensity to use fake fur in any assignment I can squeeze it into, I decided to not go down the obvious route. Instead  made a series of drawings that represent one of the major activities of kittens - mark making and scrtatching.

They are on rag papaer, and I used various scratching implements, as well as some india ink, pens and gesso.

I did ask the resident experts, Eartha Kitt and Mis Sylvie if they could help, but their response was a scornful stare and complete amnesia about their kittenhood.

Installations at VCA

I am working on creating a series of installations using cord and other materials for my Contemporary Art subject. This is all in line with my interest in 3D drawing in space.

As light as a Feather

A feather that I drew and painted when I was at the Sturt summer school. It was among some drawings I was sorting today

I enjoyed drawing  these images and will continue to do some more.

New year resolution

New year resolution to do a drawing or painting each day.
After 365 images there should be an improvement.

December drawing

December means time to get out the pens and sharpen up the drawing skills.
One page per day is the aim
