Black & White Photography
Trying to grapple with the subtlties of B&W file photography.
Some challenge.
Found that using the digital camera to work out the aperture and shutter speed is a good start for beginners.
I am at the beginning of a long journey I suspect.

Abstract Art
I have been working my way through a very interesting book called "Introducing Abstract Painting" by Robin Capon.
I have been documenting some ideas in my visual diary.
Here are some.

Gallery crawl Brunswick
Today as part of the Histroy and Culture subject we went to various galleries in Gertrude St and surrounds.
Started at 200 Gertrude - and moved on the the Australian Print Workshop, 29 Smith St, Australian Galleries, Conical, Sutton and back to Diane Tanzer.
My favourites were of course the exhibitions where there were prints.
In particular Simon Cooper at Australian Galleries. His "Still Life (threshold)" is on the left.
This is an etching! overprinted. Beautiful craftmanship and wonderful image.
Also particularly liked Chris Ingham's work at the Australian Print Workshop. On the right.

My first oil still life!
This is the still life that we are painting on Tuesday nights. Started with a raw umber base and then a light outline. Lean!
I should put the various stages up on this blog!
March 19th - Updating this blog with the latest version of the work of art. I am of course standing on the opposite side of the table.

Australian Women's Art Register
Tuesday I joined the Australian Women's Art Register in Richmonnd
In the sun and in the dark room
Yesterday the sun was bright enough for us to do pinhole photography. It was complex - when the sun was strong we exposed the print for 15 seconds. When it was overcast, we needed 70 seconds.
Today I used Photoshop to invert the successful ones, (above)
I had time at the end of the class yesterday for one more photogram (below) on the right. The left hand side is the inversion
