Castelsardo continued

Today our BNB hosts took us on a tour to see the highlights of 
Castelsardo from different viewpoints  from a lookout above the town

   to the port where we saw this beautiful statue of 
St  Anthony the patron of the town

and a rock formation in the form of a monkey

  a wonderful view of the town from the port

  and a rock formation in the form of an elephant

Castelsardo Sardinia

This castle and old town are on top of a VERY steep hill. Climbing up to the old town at times the path seems to be inches from your nose.. And the sets of steps are breathtaking. People live in the old town around the old castle and their cardio health must be among the best in the world.
There are houses that are 3 and 4 stories high that loom over you. It is impossible to describe the inclines. Apparently it was an impregnable fort. Trouble was that the people who controlled it in the past had difficulty getting into it as well! Today the inhabitants welcome the invaders ....tourists to whom they sell woven objects and cork things. It being low season they are all very friendly and on for a chat.
