Alphington Community Centre Winter Art Show

In August and November each year the  Alphington Community Centre partners with local artists and the Alphington Open Studios to host weekend art exhibitions.

It is a great opportunity to meet local artists and be involved with this vibrant community centre.

I have dropped off 4 small works for the Winter show, which will take place on the 16th and 17th of August,  with the opening night on Friday the 15th.

Works in Progress 2

Here are more works in progress
theses are around a meter by 600? My measuring ability is poor.....

New Abstract Paintings

I am on holiday from the Victorian College of the Arts, and have been itching to get intot the studio to do some painting.

These are some small oils that I have done recently to experiment with abstract painting

Further exercise in acrylic...

This time on A2 canvas paper

Experiments with Acrylics

It has been far too long since I had a concerted period of time in the studio. So I have resolved to get in there and to get cracking. A series of experiments/exercises to get going.

These are old canvases that have been overpainted.... around 40x50cm

Works for Linden Postcard Show 2013

Collage fragments

Looking for something to paint... and started looking at small parts of my collages.

More landscape paintings

Working quite small - 23 x 26 cm has its advantages - can experiment with different colours and compositions. Working in acrylics is enjoyable too. Here is the beginning of my new series. They have been inspired by my wanderings along the Yarra River at different times of the day.

Abstract paintings

Exercises in abstraction.

I used acrylic paint as it allowed me to work quickly. Both are around A2 size - 600mm x 400mm or 24x16 inches.
The first is on paper

The second is on canvas, and I like it better

Abstract Art

Our Tuesday painting class has been on abstract art. My attempt below, with a detail.
