What a treat to go to the Ian Potter Gallery at Melbourne University to see two exhibitions.
The first, Sister Corita's Summer of Love consists of the work of Sister Corita Kent, and activist nun based in Los Angeles who, in the 1960s and 1970s created wonderful screen prints with messages of love, faith and protest. As well as a large number of her prints, there is an excellent video upstairs showing her work in peaceful demonstrations and parades.
The second wonderful surprise was an exhibition of graphic works from Melbourne based printmaking collectives 1990s to 2001
work by Carol Wilson 1998
Carol Porter 1995
and Carol Porter again
and Lindsay Mason &Julie Shiels 1990
