World Press Photo 09

Saw this exhibition of the best photos submitted by World Press photographers at the Brisbane Powerhouse. This stark image is of a policeman entering a derelict house in New Orleans. Many of the photos were breathtaking due to the bravery of the photographer or their sensitivity to the subject. They put themselves into dangerous situations and many were committed to raising our awareness of the plight of the suffering. They were not exploitative - perhaps that is why they were chosen. A great exhibition.

Photos by Joachim Froese

We took a trip to Brisbane, and saw a wonderful exhibition by Joachim Froese at the QUT.
His work was beautifully executed and exciting in its references to old master paintings.
The works I enjoyed most were those based on memento mori.

- the series is under his portfolio "Rhopography

Went for a walk

Pleased to have finished painting for the BSG show, and being cooped up in the studio.
Lovely winter's day encouraged a 3 hour amble around the streets of Fairfield and Northcote.

Small Works Brunswick St Gallery

Four small pictures for the Brunswick Street Gallery Small Works exhibition.
Taking them over today. They are mixed media.

Northcote walk

Had to get out for a walk.....came across this great poster in High St Northcote. It is protesting against the manipulation of advertising.
