The Monash Gallery of Art (MGA) has on show an exhibition of photographs by Hoppe.
How lucky we are to have such an exhibition in Melbourne.
This exhibition was originally displayed at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
It is at the MGA until July 29th - certainly worth a visit.
It is divided into sections: Studio, Street, Types and Fair Women.
Hoppe photographed people such as George Bernard Shaw, H.G. Wells, A.A. Milne, T.S. Eliot, Margot Fonteyn, Vaslav Nijinsky, Albert Einstein, and members of the royal family.
He also took to street photography in a similar vein to Eugene Atget.
This image is a portrait studio of a flower woman - which is in the TYPES section - but could well be in the street or studio collection.
