I have been busy making postcards (size A6) for a fundraiser Finding Hope organised by artist Hannah Lewis. (IG hannahs_paddock). They will be for sale at Abbotsford Convent on September 13th and 14th September. (details below)
As inspiration I used the concept of Kintsugi the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with gold, silver of platinum mixed with lacquer.
As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. A key concept is resilience: the repaired object is stronger than before.
