Board Book 3 Holiday in the country

 This is part 3 of an altered book project. The inspiration was to turn children's board books into altered books. I have enjoyed doing them in the past, and this return to the form was very satisfying.

Postcards for Palestine Finding Hope fund raiser

 I have been busy making postcards (size A6) for a fundraiser Finding Hope organised by artist Hannah Lewis. (IG hannahs_paddock). They will be for sale at Abbotsford Convent on September 13th and 14th September. (details below)

As inspiration I used the concept of Kintsugi the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with gold, silver of platinum mixed with lacquer.

As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. A key concept is resilience: the repaired object is stronger than before.

Art for All at Fairfield Primary School

I am looking forward to the Art for ALL exhibition at Fairfield Primary School this weekend.

It is always a great event, with lots of variety among the works by a range of artists.

Winter Arts Salon

I am so looking forward to the opening night of the Alphington Community House Winter Art Salon tomorrow night. There is always such a terrific range of works on display, and it is a lovely community event.

Evolving Horizons exhibition at Space2B

This is my image on the invitation to our group exhibition Evolving Horizons at the art gallery at Space2B in St Kilda.

The title is Fading Light, Lingering Shadows.  It is mixed media on board. 50 x 50 cm

The exhibition  is open from 8th April to 9th May, 

the opening, where you can meet the other 3 artists is on Friday 11th April at 5,30pm

Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show

 It's almost that time of year when our group exhibits art works at the MIFGS. 

Here is a painting that I will exhibit.

It is mixed media, and is 60cm x 50cm and titled Morning still life

It was inspired by a workshop that I did in January with Anne Warren where we used gouache and collage to compose and complete a small work on paper.

Below is the work on paper that I completed in the January workshop. It was fun doing it and Anne shared some very useful techniques. 

Melbourne Collage Meets

 My first visit to the Melbourne Collage Meets group that was established by Anne Warren.

Over coffee in a Cafe we chatted and created. What fun!

The brief was 4cm x 4cm, and here are my tiny works.

It was a very enjoyable meetup, and I look forward to more interesting chats and sharing of ideas and techniques.
