At the market in Samarkand, Uzbekistan

Samarkand is one of the oldest cities in the world. For centuries it has been a hub for commerce and an important link in the silk road. Today people carry on the tradition of buying and selling. It is as if the the modern world has not arrived (apart from the stall holders who had headphones in their ears, presumably to pass time between serving customers)
