Church of Santa Maria della Pace, Rome

There was a church here in the 12th century, but this version, Santa Maria Della Pace was founded in 1482 by Pope Sixtus IV.
The first delight was the Cappella Chigi featuring frescoes by Raphael portraying Sybils receiving instruction from Angels.

On the left hand side  of the entrance, the second delight was the Cappella Ponzetti featuring biblical scenes

(I love expressions of the faces of Mary and Joseph, and the patient gaze of the donkey)

and a fresco by Baldassarre Peruzzi showing the donor with Mary and Child, St. Bridget and St. Catherine of the Wheel
