We were fortunate to see an exhibition 'Colours of the Etruscans" at the Centrale Montemartini exhibition space.
Many were being displayed for the very first time. The works had been rescued by the Italian Ministry of Culture from illegal traffickers, and many had been returned from a museum in Copehagen.
There was a lot of information about how (sadly) museums and art dealers had ravaged the cultural heritage of Italy and the efforts being made to rectify the situation. In many cases, the destruction of the contexts for the works has resulted in the loss of the history and understanding of the culture.
Still, it was wonderful to see the objects.
