Shah-i-Zinda is an important place of pilgrimage in Samarkand

Here there are many highly decorated mausoleums lining a path that leads ultimately to a mosque.
There is a shrine here to the cousin of the prophet Mohammed, Qusam ibn-Abbas who vansished here. Because his boy was not found, it is called 'The Tomb of the Living King'.
Other mausoleums including the sister and niece of Timur, and others devoted to his generals are situated here.
There are also tombs of important artists and politicians.
It is impossible to get a decent photo because of the challenges of perspective. and the narrowness of the path (and the crowds of tourists local and foreign) .
All the mausoleums look as though they are leaning inwards.

You get the idea from this image from the web. The mausoleums are arranged going up the hill one after the other.

There were as many local as foreign visitors.

And there were wonderful mosiacs and decorations inside the mausoleums

As well as the occasional offering left by the faithful
